Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins (born in Mexico) is the Mexican American broadcaster. She is employed by ESPN and works as a SportsCenter News Anchor. She was hired by ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta Collins is bilingual since the age of nine years old a useful skill that helped her secure her first job as a production assistant for Univision in Miami and gave her the chance to work with the producers of national programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Her next job was as an Sports Reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. After 2009, the reporter relocated into Rio Grande Valley Texas where she was employed by KNVO TV 48 Univision as in addition to Fox2 News. In addition to reporting on issues related to the issue of immigration and drug trafficking from both sides of Mexico-Texas border, she served as a reporter for newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of the 9 p.m. newscast in English and also an anchor for the news at 10:30 p.m. Spanish newscast. Also, she would fill in occasionally as a weather and sport anchor. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallas' affiliate, where she is more responsible. She did pieces on MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Besides this, she produced the local Univision 23 sports program Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor herself. She was advertised as a sports anchor on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same capacity for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. They eventually settled in Mexico City and she was born there on November 22 in 1985. She's older than her sister. The family moved into Miami in 1992 after leaving Mexico. The couple divorced shortly after in 1995. Her mother remarried an architect from the naval profession known as Fabio Fajardo who passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. She stayed with her family in Canton Ohio with her older sister during the summer and was given an opportunity to work. Antonietta still a senior at high school, yet she knew exactly what career path she was looking for. So while assessing if Mount Union is the right choice for her Antonietta decided to go visit the university. In the end, she fell in love with the school. And they offered her an academic major. She completed her schooling and was accepted to the University as a major studying media and communication studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and also the head of WRMU, of which she is a member. They had a very close connection. Her professor, Mark Bergmann, inspired her by his passion for journalism. He also deeply impacted her.
